As long as the weather is dry and warm, we’ll be outside as much as possible. Please ensure your child is prepared to go both indoor and outdoors.
Swimming is everyday and changing is supervised at all times. Once changed children can take the swim test. This requires children to swim confidently and competently in 3 recognised strokes. If they pass they can swim without a buoyancy aid if they do not they will be required to wear buoyancy support. Those children who do not pass will be advised to wear a t-shirt underneath their swim fin
The swim test is a brief assessment of your child's ability to swim 3 recognised strokes (front, back crawl and breast stroke) over a distance set out by the swim instructor. Our assessment is based on the day of the test regardless of any previous swimming credentials. We must make it clear that your child will be spending up to 2 hours in the pool and in some cases quite a lot of that time will be spent in the deep end. Therefore we must ensure your child's safety is our first priority. If we decide your child requires aid in the pool we will provide as much buoyancy support that your child needs.
Children have access to the boys and girls changing rooms, it's an open communal area with toilets and showers available. Staff will be in the changing room and will supervise the children whilst they change. If you would like to know about our changing policy please check out our policies and procedures
